RemixID Show
For hundreds of years, in the area of Timis and Banat, 12 other ethnic groups have been living peacefully alongside the Romanians – the Slovaks, Hungarians, Serbs, Bulgarians, Croats, Roma, Ukrainians, Slovaks, Czechs, Armenians, Italians and Jews.
This is their story – the first Remix ID show that brings together material documented over 5 years from almost every ethnic community in the Timiș area and reinterpreted by contemporary artists – interviews, music, gastronomy, dances, traditions, even folk costume sewing techniques, life stories, tragic testimonies from distant and recent history.
Using the blending of old and new, rural and urban, classical and contemporary choreography, the Remix ID script reveals its story through dance and projections. It is the perennial story of one who yearns for change, loses himself in the vortex of the unknown and then rediscovers himself and is reborn from both the roots of the past and the experience of the present.
The composition of the performance reflects this blending of old and new as it brings together old, traditional dances and contemporary choreography alongside projections and music from the freshest contemporary artists.
The team is as multikulti as the show. The choreographer is of Argentinian origin and the dancers have different dance styles as background, street dance, contemporary dance, ballet, Romanian and Serbian folk dances.
